Back to School Night
Wednesday, 8/26
- Session 1: 6:30 - 7:10
- Session 2: 7:20 - 8:00

Back to School Night will be held on Wednesday, August 26. We offer two sessions in an effort to help families with more than one child at Ballard School. Parents with more than two Ballard students, though, may need to divide and conquer. The teachers will present the same information at each session.

Back to School Night is an opportunity to meet your teacher(s) and hear about the curriculum, classroom procedures, grading standards, homework, activities, and more. Because the time is short this is not an evening for individual parent conferences. We have conferences scheduled in October, but you may certainly schedule an appointment with your child’s teacher if you would like to meet before then.

Also, Back to School Night is an evening for parents only. This is one of the few times that we ask you to leave the children at home. Students will be encouraged to attend Open House in the spring.

Ballard Shines on the API!
Ballard Students Shine on API (953)!!
Last spring, all students in grades 2 – 6 took the California STAR assessment. As usual, Ballard students impressed with their performance! The students' individual scores are combined to yield one school score called the Academic Performance Index (API). You may recall that the API is one measure of a school’s success on the California. The API range is 200 – 1000, with a ‘target’ of 800.

Ballard's score of 953 is…

- the highest API in Santa Barbara County!
- the highest API of all schools in the Santa Ynez Valley!
- one of the highest API scores in the state of California!

Congratulations to all of our students, families, and staff!
This continues to show that hard work...works!!

bottom bottom bottom
Ballard School is located in the heart of the Santa Ynez Valley on the central coast of California in Santa Barbara County. This public school teaches students from kindergarten to 6th grade. In the early days, since the schoolhouse was the only public building in the valley, it was often used for church services, weddings, funerals and the meeting place of the Good Templar Lodge and the Farmer's Alliance. It also has served as the site for lectures, social entertainment, lively debates, singing and Saturday night dances.

If you have a great story to tell about Ballard School or old time photos you would like to share, please email us and we can include it on our website. We want to preserve the history of our fabulous school.
